Band at Hotel – Havana, Cuba

I talked about a couple yesterday that started dancing during our lunch at a 5-star hotel. It was unexpected and a wonderful lunchtime performance. And where there’s dancing, there’s music. This was the band performing at the hotel.

I’m happy with the expressions I captured, and I lucked out because I didn’t shoot many frames. It’s not easy to always have a single still image represent the feeling of a performance.

To create a sharp image with minimal blur, I used 1/200 second. That worked well, but in this dark corner of the lobby, the ISO jumped up to 8,000. Not terrible with a modern camera, but more than I prefer. I added a bit of AI noise reduction with Topaz Photo AI. Also, while I shot this at a very wide 17mm, I cropped it to improve the framing. Most of my post-processing is less substantial, but some images require more work.
