I mentioned that I was shooting less architecture and urban landscapes in Havana now that I had been there for 4 days. However, I made exceptions. This is a remarkable site and warranted a photograph and a blog post.
This once elaborate building, like many in Havana, looks particularly decrepit. There is not much left other than its shell. The roof is gone, and all the windows and doors are gone, so it’s completely open to the elements.
A rundown, non-restored station wagon in the foreground completes the picture. It looks like a war-torn scene, but this is what I saw in Havana in 2024. Fairly close by was the Capitol, so not every structure was in disarray. This particular building looked further gone than most.
