Diamela, Environmental Portrait #3

Diamela, Environmental Portrait - Havana, Cuba

Diamela, Environmental Portrait – Havana, Cuba

For my third and last photo from this three-part mini-series, I feature Diamela in a colorful but muted scene.

The first mini-series post was about the light on the subject. Yesterday’s was about Diamela’s expression. Today’s is about the environment. The color, graffiti, and the people in the background offer a lot of dimension.

While it seems like a wide-angle, it’s actually at 45mm, only a tad wider than yesterday’s, but nothing like the first environmental portrait at 24mm. Keen observers might notice more distortion in the wide-angle, but it’s subtle. Today’s image seems wide because I’ve stepped back from Diamela and am showing more of the street.

As you might expect, I have a lot more portraits from my private portrait session with Diamela. I might feature more pictures from this in a future blog post, or it might make it into my monthly magazine or my new Substack. We’ll see.
