Timeless Havana

Timeless Havana - Havana, Cuba

Timeless Havana – Havana, Cuba

My private photo session with Diamela was cut short by a sudden tropical downpour. We quickly ducked into a nearby cafe and had drinks and snacks to cool down. I had already captured all the portraits I wanted, so we parted ways a half an hour later.

On the way back to the Casa, I was in street and architecture photography mode. I shot a few classic cars that frequent the area with an ornate backdrop. Out of the many shots I made, a few images qualified for the timeless look. There were no readily visible modern cars to break the illusion. In this picture, the yellow cabs in the background are modern cars, but not noticeable from this angle and distance.

I did a mini-series in late November which utilized a film-ish look via a preset that simulated old film stock. I’m revisiting this technique, starting another mini-series. I’m using a warm 1960s-era Kodachrome simulation to create this look. With the still-wet roads, classic Chevy, and lovely, still-maintained architecture, it may even look like something from the 1960s.
