Cuban Flag as Art – Havana, Cuba

It’s evident that Cuban’s are proud of their country, and I’ve seen their flags throughout the city. Mostly as part of an artwork instead of flying as a typical flag. On the morning of the sixth day in Cuba, I found two excellent examples in close proximity.

The first Cuban Flag, behind bars, works perfectly with the Barbershop motif. The faded sign recedes until found, while the flag and the painted poles take center stage. The light was great, and I love the muted aesthetic.

The second Cuban flag was creatively painted as bricks on actual bricks. Angling the painted brick’s orientation creates a wonderfully graphic design. There’s some real sophistication in this art.
