Street photography is more interesting in a place with a rich street life. Japan, in general, is a lot better than most places in the U.S. But places like these, in the downtown street markets, are particularly rewarding. While I tend to shoot in, or convert to, black and white for street photography — probably to emulate that traditional look — these wonderful colors were too nice not to use.
I captured this photograph at the Ameyoko Street Market in Ueno, which is located in the north-west part of central Tokyo. Shot with the Pentax Q7 back in 2014 with the 39mm equivalent prime lens.
