If you follow my blog, you probably know I’m not much of a landscape photographer. I’m a city person and urban landscapes and street photography are more my style. I’m what you call a fair weather landscape photographer. If I’m there and if it looks good, I’ll make a picture. I have none of the dedication of a real landscape photographer that might hike to the best spot and camp for days to get the right light and weather.
Today’s landscape is no exception. In fact, all I did was look out the window — of my plane. After a sliver of a sunrise for a couple of hours, we finally got a full-fledged sunrise as we got to Arizona. We were nearing the half-way point from our trip from Austin to San Francisco.
I generally find shooting out plane windows, disappointing. The windows are often dirty and the pollution and haze detracts. I was lucky on this trip with several nice images. I used the Canon G7X Mark II zoomed out to its maximum 100mm equivalent, which allowed me to frame the most desirable scene.
