Market Color at Chamundeshwari Temple #2

Market Color, Chamundeshwari Temple – Mysore, India

I didn’t talk to this gentleman selling his wares next to the Chamundeshwari Temple, so I’m speculating. Is he a priest? Or is he just a regular vendor? I did Google searches on Hindu Priests, and many of them wore orange clothing similar to his.

What is he selling? Again, I did Google searches on prayer beads, and I pulled up something similar though not nearly as colorful.

I hate to sound like an ignorant tourist but I guess I am an ignorant tourist just taking street photographs. I was visually attracted to color and gesture in this market place. That’s what guided my photography. I didn’t, however, establish a cultural connection. Did I miss an opportunity?

I suppose I’m one step better than tourists who snap photographs from inside the big tour bus. But, my limited time and full schedule dissuaded me from experiencing anything deeply. Given all the international travel these days, I was surprised that I didn’t see many foreign tourists here. I wonder how long that’s going to last?
