After the graduation and the other get-togethers, the parents and guests of all my son’s housemates met for an early dinner. We dodged heavy rain and other challenges. But a dozen or so in our party met at a downtown San Antonio restaurant near the famed Riverwalk. It was time to settle down and celebrate.
That day was the first time I met the other parents. The graduates and younger members congregated on one side. The parents bunched together to trade stories.
A few of us ordered the house specialty, Prickly Pear margaritas. Prickly Pear is a type of cactus common in Central Texas. The actual margarita didn’t taste any different, in my estimation. But, a margarita made partially from cactus sounds more exotic. Shot at a maximum f1.4 aperture, the shallow depth of field added a bit more drama. The saturation was booted just a tad for extra festiveness.
