The Kaka’ako Farmers Market is quite large, as we discovered. It’s held in a parking lot on the corner of Ward Avenue and Ala Moana Blvd. But that was only half of it. On the other side of Ala Mona, another parking lot with more white tents.
Today’s photo is from the southern side of Ala Moana. In the distance, the new condos of the high-end Ward Village. A couple of towers were finished, and a few more are under construction. When fully built, nearly a dozen 40-story buildings will pack the area.
The current market location is also scheduled to be redeveloped. There are plans for it to move to a park in the center of Ward Village. Though that space looks smaller to me. If all goes according to schedule. Within a decade — this once industrial area will turn park-like — dotted with tall towers.
