I’ve been to a few farmers’ markets in Austin but have never been a regular. While I like the concept, I haven’t found things that really interested me — not so in Hawaii.
A big difference is the choice of prepared foods. There’s a lot more Japanese and other Asian foods, like the noodles that I talked about yesterday. However, I also saw wood-fired pizzas and a variety that I haven’t experienced here at home. Perhaps I haven’t gone to the right markets in Texas.
Of course, vacations tend to put me in a more exploratory mood. Being open to more experiences that I don’t bother with back home. I ate more than I usually do, and there was ample choice left unexperienced. If I lived in Hawaii, would I get bored with the options? Conversely, would the Texas farmers’ markets look more enticing?
