Web of Power Lines – Honolulu, Hawaii

We are still on Queen Street in Kaka’ako, an up-and-coming industrial neighborhood in Honolulu — as were the last two posts. Looking past the low-slung business, you might be floored by the contrast in development.

Luxury condos are rising. And there are more to come. How will Queen Street transform over the next decade?

More than the towers, it’s the web of power lines that boggles the mind. They look prehistoric in their urban infrastructure. Reminding me of cities from a century ago when they began flirting with electricity. While visually intriguing, I reflexively react negatively towards them — they look so third-world. Their clutter overwhelms.
