Here’s one last post from SKY Waikiki, a roof-top bar in Waikiki. We are looking east up Kalakaua Avenue, the upscale shopping street through this area. In the distance, you can see Diamond Head, the iconic extinct volcano that often forms the backdrop to Waikiki Beach.
The Waikiki area grew in waves, but I think much of the larger structures are from the 70s and 80s. I opted to apply a vintage film-like look to the picture. This is courtesy of Fujifilm’s built-in film simulation. With the newer cameras and Capture One. I’m excited that the Fuji color has been liberated from JPEGS. I can get this Classic Chrome look in RAW with all the additional post-processing options superior to JPEG.
The avenue forms a leading line towards Diamond Head. Forming a spine to the image. However, my favorite is the small blue pool and matching umbrellas. Located on a roof-top. It adds a pop of color to an otherwise sea of creamy white.
