Parking Lot Mural – Honolulu, Hawaii

I know there are a fair number of murals in Austin. But I don’t notice them as much. I certainly haven’t photographed them as extensively as I’ve done in Hawaii. Perhaps, I like the Hawaiian artistry better.

For my last quick visit to Kaka’ako, I found this colorful piece in a modest parking lot. Having the industrial buildings and the distracting cars are part of the urban aesthetic of this artform.

I find this mural particularly bold and apropos for Hawaii. The piece is signed @pacificsoul_steve and @maartenemily. A quick check on Instagram revealed that both are tattoo artists.
