I talked yesterday about a Dell Technologies event I attended during SXSW 2022. Humbly called The Experience, Dell converted a two-story warehouse into a big promotional extravaganza. Though, if you think about it, SXSW is just one big promotional showcase. Sprinkled with talks about the future and the new new things coming soon. I’m okay with this — because it is expected.
The big corporates with the deep pockets get to make more noise — opening up their experiences to more people. Even to the ones without SXSW badges like me. Why do they do this? To get their message out, control the narrative, and generate goodwill with their current and future customers.
I don’t think deeply about this. I go, look around, document, and write stories. At the Dell Experience, they showcased their products, as expected. They also had one-on-one sessions and lectures about their environmental and inclusive initiatives. All melded together and enhanced with spiffy displays, fun games, and two free drinks.
