The Edge, an observation platform, was our reason for visiting Hudson Yards. They claim it’s the tallest in North America, which means it’s also the tallest in New York City. Located on the western side of Manhattan, it afforded a spectacular view south of downtown Manhattan.
I had the benefit of my high-resolution Fuji GFX 50S II, a 51MP camera, which allows me to crop extensively and still create a worthwhile image. I made this 14MP picture out of the original framed at 53mm. Oddly, I didn’t make any pictures zoomed to 70mm. Doing so would’ve reduced the amount of cropping.
The view east towards midtown was less optimal. A building blocked part of the iconic Empire State Building. While you get a top-of-the-world feeling from the Edge, it wasn’t my favorite observation platform. I’ll feature a different one I liked better later in the series.
