Roaring Twenties – New York, New York

I had to ask for a portrait when I saw this group on the street in Manhattan. They are more than happy to oblige. Having little time, I didn’t get their backstory.

I’m no fashion expert, but these women look like flappers — a style popular in the Roaring Twenties. And by twenties, I mean 1920s, a hundred years ago.

There’s an eerie reoccurrence of history. In 1918, the world experienced a pandemic, and throughout the 1920s, there was a big stock market boom. Then in 1929, Black Tuesday started the Great Depression. I hope history doesn’t repeat itself.
