Due to my high school reunion activities, I missed the Puerto Rican Day parade. Though that parade and another snarled traffic throughout Manhattan. We struggled to get over to the west side for our get-together.
As I documented Times Square that evening, enthusiastic Puerto Ricans rolled through. A perfect opportunity to capture a street party-like atmosphere, as you can see here.
Times Square’s traffic is often at a crawl, and these festive flag wavers didn’t help. Though no one seemed to mind — they just added to the over-the-top hyper-stimulated scene. It was fun for me.
I frantically snapped pictures before they all went away. It’s all part of the excitement of the city that never sleeps.
