I walked about a mile west from Union Square Park, almost to my destination, and I got sidetracked by some red umbrellas. I talked yesterday about the friendly cafe setups that I saw throughout Manhattan.
Today’s picture shows the scene across from yesterday’s cafe. There were more red umbrellas, but the mix of architecture attracted me — the renovated industrial building in the foreground contrasting with modern boxes behind. The variety certainly adds more interest.
I didn’t know it at the time, but that renovated warehouse in the foreground is an Apple Store. Zooming into my 51MP image, I discovered the low-key black-metal sign with the Apple logo. There seem to be two distinct types of Apple Stores — the ultra-modern ones with glass and silver architecture and the ones that inhabit restored historic buildings.
