Fitting with the original design of Solferino Station, featured yesterday, a classic metro car graced its tracks. This look at the interior of a Paris metro car is the third and last of the series.
My first metro interior appeared to be the most prevalent, modern design like many I’ve seen throughout the world. The next ultra-modern interior was decidedly dramatic with mood lighting. This classic design is the most utilitarian but immaculately maintained.
If memory serves, this is the type of train I rode on my first visit to Paris over forty years ago. I remember an awkward moment when I wanted to get off at a station, but the doors didn’t open. Another passenger unlocked the mystery by hitting a metal latch on the door, springing it to life. This metro train had the same kind of door interface. I appeared like a seasoned veteran pushing the latch as we got off at the station.

My goodness. It’s so bloody clean compared to the New York subway.
Indeed.
