Years ago, Las Vegas tried to morph itself into a more family-friendly environment. Free shows featured swashbuckling pirates, erupting volcanos, and dancing water fountains. Many of those shows are disappearing, but the waters still dance at the Bellagio.
Every 20 minutes, give or take, the fountain show syncs to popular hit music. The music by Frank Sinatra seems particularly apropos — the pattern and height of the water change from performance to performance.
I shot a few shows head-on with the Bellagio in the background. That’s the way most people document the event. I featured an unusual framing from the backside. For this picture, I shot from the sidewalk side diagonally, including the trees and bump-out on the left and balancing it with the Bellagio on the right. In the background, we see The Cosmopolitan.
