Happy New Year!
It looks like I celebrated the passage into the new year at a glitzy bar in Las Vegas. But that’s not the case. I’m just continuing with my Las Vegas coverage of a trip I took in February 2023. However, this bar from Luxor struck the right mood.
I read last year’s New Year post, and my predictions for 2023 were not very accurate. The year turned out differently than I thought. While I finished most of my planned projects around the house and then some, I traveled more in 2023 than expected. I’m already featuring my Vegas trip, but I also took two more significant excursions, which I’ve talked about in the magazine. Those travel photos will inevitably make it into the blog sometime in the future.
More significantly, on the gear front, I made a major camera change, which I have yet to talk about on the blog. I’ll do so after I finish my Las Vegas series. While it’s true, as I predicted, that I’ll be using less of the Fujifilm GFX 50S II, I didn’t use the Fuji X-S10 as much, either. A couple of months after shooting Vegas with the Fuji, I started experimenting with another brand, which I detailed in my free magazine.
As for 2024, I plan more vacations as I step up my empty-nester opportunities. Remarkably, I’ve already bought eleven lenses for my new system — the fastest build-out ever for a camera system. I’m eyeing a few more lenses and another camera body this year. I’ll be shedding more physical and digital clutter for 2024, continuing with what I started last year. In fact, I sold a bunch of old gear to help finance the new stuff.
I hope you had a wonderful 2023 and have an even better 2024. Stay happy, healthy, and creative.
