Happy New Year!

I hope you have a fantastic 2023 as most of the world returns to normality. I thought it appropriate to feature a photo from Times Square, where New York City had its big new year’s celebration. The skinny building in the center is One Times Square which features the famous ball-dropping. Under the ball, this picture says 2022 since I snapped it in June. Now it reads 2023.

My wife and I took advantage of our empty-nester status and traveled more in 2022 than ever. My first big trip was to New York City, where I attended my 40th high school reunion. We made two other significant trips that will bring loads of future content to the blog.

Over the last few years, I’ve fully embraced Fujifilm, shooting both the X and GFX systems. Last year, I was enamored by the medium format GFX 50S II, which I upgraded in December 2021, though the winds of change are blowing. I just “invested” in the 50mm f1.0 for the X system, and I predict an uptick in usage for Fujifilm’s APS-C system.

While I’m mulling travel ideas, 2023 should be quieter. I have a lot of planned projects around the house that will take many months to execute. I predict a more introspective year, where I need to appreciate what I have and attempt to shed unneeded physical and digital clutter.

What are your plans for the new year?

May you have a happy, healthy, and creative 2023.

  1. Dear atmtx, I wish you and your family a beautiful 2023! And I hope that 2023 will bring us the end of the Ukraine war. Thanks for your blog and newsletter, it is avrefreshing reading. May I remember you that at some point you promised tge description of your travel friendly, computer-less backup procedure? I am quite interested, as my procedure (via my phone and a usb key) is not very efficient.
    All the best, Andrea

    1. Hi Andrea, thank you. Thanks for the reminder about the computer-less backup, I’ll need to talk about that in next magazine issue or the issue after that.
