I snapped a quick picture of the dog from a completely different vantage point. It was okay, but nothing special. I’m glad I followed through with this second photo because it is miles above the first one.

What was originally envisioned as just a dog on the street with its owner turned into something special. I couldn’t have anticipated the reaction from the three men on the street. It obviously makes the picture. It’s also a wonderful slice of Manhattan sidewalk life.

That’s the fun of street photography. Sometimes you can anticipate the shot. But often, serendipity is your friend.
