As you might expect, I took many pictures from the train. I’m featuring one more. This scene is at an elevation considerably higher than yesterday’s. It was shot near the Riffelberg Station, the fifth station of seven on the Gornergrat-Bahn.

You’ll see many pictures of the Matterhorn over the next several posts since it’s the signature subject in these parts. I like this version with the hotel and ski lift. The horizontal cables in the foreground are an unfortunate limitation that I couldn’t control, though the horizontal lines parallel with the sloping ground look somewhat less distracting.

Window reflections are still an issue, though surprisingly suppressed in this image. Shooting exactly perpendicular to the window and having the lens hood touch the glass reduces unwanted reflections. Of course, this is not always possible if the composition doesn’t allow it.
