Classic Car Parade – Havana, Cuba

For my second post in this timeless-look mini-series, I caught a parade of classic cars shuttling a large group of tourists. These vehicles seem primarily as Touristmobiles, and they congregate around popular areas.

The illusion of timelessness doesn’t work as well in this photo as it did in yesterday’s, for a few reasons. While the cars are classic, I’m not sure the wheels are authentic enough. The larger issue is the surrounding architecture. The hotel in the background looks too modern. And even the classic colonnade on the right looks a bit modern.

Still, it’s a great picture, and I like its liveliness. Well-dressed people with straw hats add a period feel. And it seems to echo what Cuba’s long-past golden age might have looked like.
