A Sleek Italian in Visp

Trenitalia - Visp, Switzerland

Trenitalia – Visp, Switzerland

We headed north from Zermatt, a little over an hour to Visp. Most of Switzerland appears mountainous, but the southern half is especially so with the Alps. Trains go slow through this region like we experienced on the Glacier Express. However, by heading north, you get to comparably flatter geography.

Visp appears in the center of the train action, with lines reaching out in multiple directions. Consequently, I saw a variety of trains passing through. From Visp, we went west towards Geneva.

One of the more exciting trains was this sleek Trenitalia train, run by the primary train operator in Italy. Trenitalia also runs the high-speed Frecciarossa that I spotted in Paris
