Rodeo Austin Retail

Clean and Shape, Rodeo Austin – Austin, Texas

After a tour of the show barn, I was off to the smaller building packed with retail. As you might expect, there was a definite western ware theme, with clothing, accessories, and decorations catering to the rodeo crowd. I’ve been through this mini-mall before, but I don’t recall if I blogged about it.

I wasn’t a serious shopper, here more to document and observe. Although I’ve lived in Texas for over thirty years, I don’t own cowboy boots or a hat. I don’t feel compelled to change my sartorial style either. However, the place made for good street photography.

The 28mm I used forces me to be moderately close but not uncomfortably so, especially if I want to include environmental context. That’s where the 28 is easier than a 24mm. A 35mm might require me to be too far away, and in a crowded location, it makes it harder to get a cleaner shot of my intended subject.
