I featured some handsome buildings near the Châtelet Metro station in the Les Halles neighborhood a few days ago. We hopped on the train and arrived at our tourist destination in Montmartre.
While the buildings look different, I don’t know if most will discern a tangible difference in neighborhoods. Les Halles, where we stayed, is supposed to be upscale and surrounded by epic tourist sites — Montmartre, less so. This area is notable for artists. There’s also a famous church here — one of our primary destinations — which I’ll show later. I’m told it’s a neighborhood where you need to watch out for pickpockets.
Architecturally, narrower cobblestone streets and the shutters on the windows appear like a distinct difference. However, there’s a character here that makes it more charming than the area filled with luxury retailers.
