I saw these elegant retro-looking telescopes throughout the different levels of the Eiffel Tower. I looked them up, and they are called tower viewers. The silvery color with the brass accents is a wonderful stylistic design.

This is from the third level in all its shiny glory. The purple color is courtesy of the lights illuminating the tower from the ground level.

The thick blue diagonal line is from a search beam at the top of the Eiffel Tower. While it looks like it’s hitting the tower view, the beam is projecting far into the distance.
