In my third and last post in this EDC (Every Day Carry) mini-series, I have a couple of pictures from Hopdoddy’s, a tasty, higher-end burger restaurant. I went there with my family for lunch and carried my Leica D-Lux 8 for family snapshots and wide-angle shots of the establishment.
Hopdoddy’s is also our preferred location when Kirk and I have our generously long photographic lunches. We talk about life, photography, and recently, Leicas. Today’s pictures are from the Hopdoddy’s in the same strip mall as Precision Camera. Ironically, Kirk and I go to a different location four miles south. The one close to Precision Camera may be too much of a distraction.
The D-Lux 8 has a useful 24mm to 75mm equivalent zoom range. Both of these pictures are at a 24mm equivalent. It is certainly a wide angle, though not extremely so. Still, it nicely adds architectural drama horizontally and vertically. I like this focal length for architecture. It pulls in a satisfying perspective without undue distortion.
