After shooting the shops on Guadalupe Street, I returned to the campus and backtracked along my original path. The statues around the undergraduate library, now underlit details no longer worth exploring, but I found the mood and shadow around the clean, modern library architecture.
The precision and straight lines of the aluminum-framed windows contrasted against the amorphous light and darkness. Who would have thought minimalist modern architecture could evoke emotion? But magic can happen in the dark.
Just around the corner, leading lines frame an advertisement for an ill-defined product. What is Skullcandy? Yes, I know they are in-ear headphones, but how long-lasting is that bit of consumerist knowledge? I can imagine the product will be long forgotten in the not-so-distant future. But advertising doesn’t have to be eternal; it just needs to help sell the product now.
