Now that we are finished with the University of Texas, I have a short EDC series until we switch away from the Leica D-Lux 8 coverage. What is EDC, you may ask? It’s short for Every Day Carry, and for photography, it means a small camera you can take anywhere. I have smaller cameras than the D-Lux 8. Still, the versatility and moderately large sensor size make this a strong EDC candidate.
A good part of this year has been my testing of this new camera. It’s easy to take high-quality pictures during the daytime, but how about at night? I shot downtown and the University of Texas campus at night and have concluded that the D-Lux 8 does an admirable job.
Today’s image is an observation of nowhere and everywhere. It’s nothing special—just a strip mall parking lot seating area. I’m sure there are many like it across the United States. Thus, it’s everywhere and something that isn’t noticed. However, making a solid picture of mundane things can be challenging. That’s part of EDC, documenting the everyday stuff you might pass by without notice. I’m a sucker for glowing lights strung up above a patio. They look festive, though the empty seating area looks lonely, offering up a visual contrast.
