Interior, Loro – Austin, Texas

We recently went to Loro with some friends. I didn’t know much about it until I discovered it’s the same restaurant I heard about a year ago. It’s a fusion of Texas Barbecue and Asian dishes. It started in South Austin and is a collaboration between famous Barbecue Master Aaron Franklin and Tyson Cole, who is known for his upscale Japanese-fusion Uchi restaurants. Best of all, the food was very tasty and not very expensive.

I brought my Leica D-Lux 8 and took snapshots of my friends and some of the interior, as you can see here.

Given the founders’ pedigree, I thought it would be a fancier restaurant. Lucky for me, it was nice and casual, but with excellent eclectic food. These snake plant planters disguise waiting lanes for food ordering—totally unobvious unless you know. You pay at the register, and they bring you the food at large family-style bench seating.

The interior is modern, warm, and not fussy. Given the casual nature of the food and the great smoky taste of my Oak-Smoked Beef Brisket Sandwich, I’m sure I’ll be going again.
