We’re located on Main Street in downtown Taylor, Texas, one of the city’s two primary retail streets in its compact center. The late afternoon sun cast a warm glow and shadows on the facade of the Citizens National Bank.
The structure originally started out as the Eikel-Prewitt Hardware Building, built in 1893. In 1985, the building underwent renovation, and a bank moved in, later becoming Citizens National.
The facade is well-executed, with an adequately satisfying level of ornamentation. Not surprisingly, the building is recognized as a Texas Historic Landmark. I enjoy capturing these buildings head-on with precision and perspective-corrected. The same way I documented yesterday’s church.
I shot this picture in 2022, and I’ve photographed downtown Taylor several times before the pandemic. Downtown Taylor shows such promise, and I see it slowly being renovated.
