Downtown Skyline in Monochrom – Singapore

I’m back to using the Fujifilm GFX 50S II with the GF35-70mm lens. The downtown Singapore skyline is concentrated in the business district, located on the other side of the bay from the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, which I featured two days ago. Not surprisingly, the number of skyscrapers has grown, and the previous gaps in the skyline are filled with new structures. Perhaps in the future, tall buildings will ring the entire bay.

This is a comparatively young skyline composed of recently completed buildings. How can I tell? Notice that many of the towers are pointed or look like shards of glass. Gone are the squat and boxy towers of the past—they are so dull.

The overcast gray and blue didn’t look particularly exciting, and the conversion to black and white adds interest. The buildings become more like textured objects on parade. I will feature significantly more dramatic architecture from the nighttime later in the series, my favorite time to make urban landscapes.
