Food Distribution – Havana, Cuba

I did minimal street photography on the morning of day 3 as we headed to the next venue for portraiture. However, I liked this scene, though I didn’t completely understand what was happening.

First and foremost, I like the cute church in the background. It has wonderful details, beautifully symmetric, and modest enough to quietly impress. But it’s the foreground activity that adds the interest and makes it a slice of urban life.

Was this just a market where they are buying food? Was it a black market? Or is it a government-sponsored distribution? I have no idea, and ultimately it doesn’t matter for the image.
