Cone Heads – Havana, Cuba

I didn’t do a comprehensive survey of street art, but I like this one. It’s cute.

While I’ve only met a very small slice of the population in the week I was there, it seems like there were more artists and creatives in Cuba than in other countries. We have models that are also ballerinas. Artists who are architects. And a large number of musicians. Why? My theory is that traditional finance and technology jobs may be scarce in Cuba. And with free or low-cost education, people can get advanced degrees or study subjects they like. In the United States, there is increasing pressure to study “practical”, financially viable fields. Though with the rise of AI, that dynamic may shift.

An extra bonus in this photograph is the little girl on the right.
