I recently featured a street photograph with people buying fruit at a stand similar to this one. However, that was an entirely different kind of photograph.

While the previous picture is about people and their relationship with food, this picture is about the relationship between the stand, people, and the overall environment. The background architecture is a significant visual component.

Concentrating on the building for a moment, it’s really remarkable. Sure, it’s deteriorating, but the scale and detailing are bold. You don’t see architecture like this in the United States. Dare I say, it almost looks castle-like with its solid-looking wood door and thick stone walls.
