Food at La Barra – New York, New York

As planned, we had dinner at Mercado Little Spain, a food hall with Spanish food at Hudson Yards. We opted for a sit-down restaurant instead of one of the kiosks. While we had table service, I was glad that it wasn’t a fussy upscale establishment. We both prefer casual places.

We went to La Barra, a Tapas restaurant serving food on small plates. It’s a great way to sample multiple dishes. We were complete newbies when it came to Spanish food and ordered several selections that sounded good based on the waiter’s suggestions. It was an eclectic mix for us, and we enjoyed it. However, we both thought that it wasn’t the most amazing food. But in all fairness, we might not have ordered the best dishes. We concluded that it’s worth going again and trying something else. By the way, the rings below are calamari, though they may look like onion rings.

Going to a Tapas restaurant and the Spanish Food Hall was a safe introduction to Spain. Spain is one of the countries we want to visit, so we viewed this experience as a gentle introduction.
