My wife and I stayed to the very end, right up to closing time. Given how large the museum is, we must have seen only a fraction of the exhibits. We definitely need to visit again.

We were part of the scramble to exit the museum, resulting in a crowd of people leaving at the same time. Sensing a street photography moment, I pulled out the Leica M246.

Admittedly, a picture like this is pretty easy with a modern autofocus camera. Using my D-Lux 8 would have been more practical. Yet I was being stubborn and wanted to follow the traditional approach.

To me, nothing says street photography more than using a manual-focus Leica M camera in New York City. That’s how many of the street photography greats did it—except I had the benefit of digital instead of film. Still, there is something romantic about trying to make pictures in the (mostly) traditional way.
