I shot this picture somewhere in Times Square. Given that they serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night, apparently they pretty much serve food around the clock. Though I can’t tell if they are actually open 24 hours.
The black-and-white conversion works well here. There’s a nice shine and glow to the image, and the lack of color simplifies the photo. However, I like the color version too, and the red neon is a real bonus. I included that version below for your reference.
I also have another reason for doing the monochrome treatment. It’s something I mention once in a while, and it’s a subtle detail in how I sequence my posts. My blog posts are grouped into a repeating pattern of threes, with a theme that runs through them. Sometimes it’s obvious, and I include a #1, #2, and #3 in the titles of the three posts. Often, the relationship can be a lot more subtle. There could be a similarity in subject or color scheme. Here, this is the third post featuring a black-and-white image, which is why I opted not to feature the color version as the lede image.
