In Austin, the University of Texas Tower is a fixture and the iconic centerpiece of the campus. Though I’ve shot it a number of times, I’ve never scrutinized its details. The temple like top and golden clock make an interesting subject and an obvious choice to test the extreme zooming capabilities of my Panasonic ZS50.
The first photo starts at a 200mm equivalent. Subsequent photos are at 300mm, 400mm, 500mm, 600mm and 720mm. At ISO 80, the images are good, though the details gets softer with the increased zoom. No doubt a weakness of a 30x zoom. Shot in JPEG and post processed to taste.
