The iconic “Glass Cube” Apple Store on 5th Avenue in New York City. This architectural gem has become one of New York City’s most photographed structures since it opened on May of 2006. The 32 foot glass cube, designed by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, encloses a subterranean entrance that is open 24 hours a day.
I shot this back in May, 2011. Shortly after, the cube was re-built with larger glass panels — it’s no longer possible to create the same image. Photographically, I prefer this smaller grid of glass squares, to the current one. At my desk, I have a 20″x30″ metal print of this photograph.
I first posted this image on October 5, 2011, the day Steve Jobs died. My photographic tribute. Today is the 5th anniversary of his passing.
