Believe it or not, I’m really happy when I find and make photos like this. You may see these as just a bunch of benches, which they are, but I see something more. I often use leading lines in my architectural photographs and, while a little more subtle than usual, they are in play here. There’s the roof, of course, and the alignment of the benches too, which all lead the viewer into the photograph, towards the light. I also like the glow and pools of light interspersed within the frame. Finally, I made sure to use the umbrellas to frame the overall photograph.
I found this place called Space 24 Twenty, right off the University of Texas campus on Guadalupe Street. It’s a mixed use restaurant and entertainment area. Shot with the Ricoh GR and posted as part of my Daily Life Collection. Everyday images that I’ve captured, hopefully in a slightly different way, as I go about life in Austin.
