Last month, I visited a modest water park in a suburb of Austin. It was sort of a last fling before the start of school. In the northern climates, the start of school corresponds to the end of summer. But in Austin, where the temperature remains warm for a lot longer, August is merely past the half way point. It stays warm well into September, when the nice mid-80 degree days start to tempt us.
Believe it or not, this is the first time I’ve ever been to a water park. This one, located off the shores of Lake Travis is a small one, by any standard. Even so, a few rides, a pool, a restaurant and bar made for an enjoyable afternoon with friends.
I took my Olympus TG-2, which is my staple on Waikiki Beach, with its robust water proof design. As a camera, it’s a decent point and shoot but one that I can use without fear of damaging. This ride, which we nicknamed the “toilet bowl”, has an interesting graphic design, which I thought might make a decent image.
