To call Home Slice Pizza an Italian Restaurant is a stretch. They have pizza, salads, and appetizers, but not any pasta dishes. However, the red glow of this candle reminds me of Italian family restaurants in New York.
While far from fancy, at least Home Slice has tablecloths — vinyl instead of white linen — and a candle. It’s the right level of formalism for me — nothing stuffy where I must remember to select my eating utensils from the outside in towards the plate.
The 24mm equivalent lens I’ve been testing and raving about also worked well for close-ups. At f2.8 and shooting close, it produced a noticeable shallow depth of field. I was too close to shoot with a 50mm and still show much of the background. I kept the exposure dark to add moodiness and highlight the flame-like glow surrounding the candle.
