Our visit the Harrah’s Casino was brief. We strolled from the back entrance through the main walkway and out the front. Along the way, I snapped a couple of photos. My wife and I have nothing against a little gambling but we weren’t particularly in the mood. That and the atmosphere wasn’t exactly conducive.
Don’t get me wrong. The place was nice, by casino standards. It was richly decorated and visual. But there were very few patrons. No sounds of slot machines paying off or of excited crowds enjoying a winning streak at the craps table. No clicking of glass or show music in the distance. It was like walking into a completely empty restaurant, but worse.
I hope they have more customers on the weekend. We were there Monday, so I’m sure it’s one of their slower nights. Unfortunately, the entire waterfront area was disappointingly quiet. It had none of the tourist ruckus of the French Quarter or even the big city activity of Canal Street, further up.
