The Drink and Click portraits are back. I shot this and the upcoming series, last month, at the Craftsman, on the Eastside of Austin. We’ll start it off with Vanessa, who attended her first Drink and Click that night. She’s new to Austin and moved from San Jose, California, as I recall.
The converted bungalow into bar is very dark and I had some help from a continuous light setup some distance away. Certainly further away than you would normally place one, for a conventional portrait. But it created the kind of dark and shadowy look that I was going for and which I like shooting with my usual Olympus PEN-F setup in monochrome.
I like Vanessa’s swagger which seems to match her outfit. After a number of poses, we moved to the bar, where I experimented with a different type of portrait. I’ll feature those photos in an upcoming post.
