From the glowing lights in the background, you might have guessed correctly that I shot this in the same place as the last two posts — at Stay Gold from this past February. Vivian makes her second appearance on the blog. I also featured her back in June in a Drink and Click Portrait from the Craftsman Bar.
Lighting wise, I made this portrait in the available ambient light. You might be able to tell that my ambient light portraits are generally softer and perhaps a bit dreamier. Part of this is because the light source is not as intense as dedicated lights. I also shoot at higher ISOs and slower shutter speeds.
Vivian is wearing a dress designed and created by Nhi, who I also featured in a portrait. She actually made a number of dresses and the models had fun dressing up in vintage designs. It made for an extra special Drink and Click.

One of your best.
Thank you, Mike. Some portraits are more of a struggle. This one of Vivian fell into place rather quickly. It certainly helps to have a skillful model.
